The Tripoli based Libyan government announced Thursday that it has launched new smart post/zip codes.
Normal post/zip codes had been launched in 2010, but the new smart post/zip codes plates being installed have QR and NFC codes included allowing them to be read by electronic equipment, including smart mobile phones.
Phase one of the installation of smart post/zip codes plates has installed 22,000 post/zip codes plates and aims to install 111,000 plates in western Libya. It will be completed in 2024. Phase two will include Benghazi, Misrata and Sebha.
