The Maghreb Banking Forum on the Reconstruction of Libya: Mobilizing Financing Mechanisms and the Role of the Digital Economy was held in Tripoli 14 to 15 November.

The event was sponsored by the Ministry of Planning and organized by the Union of Libyan Banks and the Union of Maghreb Banks.

In his opening speech, the Minister of Planning, Mohamed Youssef Al-Zidani, stressed the importance of the participation of Maghreb and Libyan banks in reconstruction projects using specialized technology in the areas of economic development.

He expressed his thanks and gratitude to the Union of Maghreb Banks for organizing this event, which strengthens fraternal ties between the countries of the Maghreb.

At the event speakers agreed that the banking sector is pivotal to the reconstruction of Libya and that banks from the Maghreb region, including Libyan banks, should play a leading role in this by crystalising a clear strategy and various appropriate financing tools to this end.
