The Minister of Economy and Trade, Mohamed Al-Hwej, held a meeting with the Chairman and members of the Preparatory Committee for the First Investment Partnership Conference 2024: “Libya’s Future, Opportunities and Investment”. The meeting was held at the Ministry’s Tripoli headquarters, in the presence of the Director General in charge of the Grain Bureau and the Director of the Economic Studies Department at the Ministry.

The event is organized by the Libyan (state) Company for the Management of Participation Projects with the Private Sector.

Map of targeted projects reviewed
The attendees were briefed on the committee’s work plan in preparing the general programme of the conference and the proposed axes regarding activating the partnership structure to enhance the role of the private sector in encouraging and developing the investment sector. The map of the projects targeted to be presented at the conference were also reviewed.

Localisation of industry
The preparatory committee indicated that the conference aims to present the targeted projects within the investment map, which contributes to the localization of industries, with broad local and international participation from competent government institutions, leading companies, business owners, and major investors.

Variety of investment projects
The Minister pointed out the importance of including the “Benghazi-Chad” transit trade route project, and the infrastructure development projects for airports in Tripoli, Benghazi, Sebha, and Misrata. He also highlighted ports, solar energy projects, and oil refineries to develop and diversify the economy.
