Brega Oil Marketing Company announced yesterday that it is to construct a modern, solar powered petrol station in the Furnaj area of Tripoli. Brega is the National Oil Corporation subsidiary charged with the import and distribution of fuels, cooking gas and industrial oils.

Brega said this comes within its petrol station expansion plans in various regions in Libya which would meet the needs of customers, reduce fuel smuggling and shortages.

The announcement came after its relevant managers held a meeting yesterday with Al-Enmaa Company during which the final presentation of the design model of Furnaj petrol station was approved.

Power cuts contribute to fuel queues
It will be recalled that whenever Libya has power cuts, petrol queues occur as most petrol stations do not have generators to power their fuel pumps. These queues have become violent, including the use of guns, in the past.
