French Hypermarket Géant attracting lots of customers in its first Libya branch in Benghazi – more branches to open across Libya

French Hypermarket Géant has opened its second branch in Benghazi and Libya (Photo: Geant Benghazi).

Last January, French retail giant, Géant Hypermarket International, opened its first branch in Benghazi. It was branch number 114 for the Géant chain, but its first in Libya.

The right was granted to Géant Libya to open a branch in Benghazi according to the contract for the right to use the Géant brand granted by Géant International in France.

‏Expansion plans across Libya
Géant Libya has a plan to expand further in the rest of the Libyan cities with the approval of the French trademark owner. The expansion will be well studied and according to a time plan that starts from preparing the place according to the specifications set by the international Géant Hypermarket. ‏

Department store
The hypermarket contains different sections of commodities, including foodstuffs, household items, kitchen equipment, meat, clothes, including sportswear, children’s toys, sports games, library equipment, stationery, a special section for workshop equipment, and a car park in the basement of the building.

Increased demand in Ramadan
The month of Ramadan witnessed crowding inside the hypermarket and a great demand for foodstuffs and meat that are available with healthy standards and high quality that are monitored by specialists in the field.

Regarding the number of workers in Géant Benghazi and their nationalities, more than 200 people work in Géant Benghazi in various fields. These include packaging, processing, and displaying goods to workers in the field of sale. The hypermarket has a focus on the presence of a sufficient number of specialists in the field of monitoring food quality, validity and healthy presentation methods, especially for fruits and fresh vegetables and meat.

Géant accepts e-payments through POS and mobile apps
The hypermarket offers the various electronic payment services through the points of sale (POS) available within Géant and mobile applications so that customers can pay with all available payment methods without the need to use cash.
