Ministry of Labour signs MoU with French NGO Supernovae to rehabilitate conflict affected youth

Libya’s Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation signed an MoU with French NGO Supernovae in Tripoli last Thursday to rehabilitate and empower conflict affected youth.

Adel Ali Al-Aqbi, Director of the International Cooperation Department signed for the Ministry while Raif Wafa, Director of the Libya Office signed for Supernovae.

The signing of the MoU comes in order to strengthen the strategic cooperation between the Supernovae and the Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation regarding support, training, rehabilitation and integration of youth affected by the conflict.

Wafa, confirmed to the Libya Herald that, according to this MoU, training of trainers’ programmes will be supported and implemented for entrepreneurship programmes and small, medium and micro enterprises, and support for the economic empowerment programme for youth. He said there will be an emphasis on supporting the Libyan National Programme for Rehabilitation and Reintegration. and the social and economic inclusion of the combatants financially, technically and socially.

He added that goods and equipment will be purchased, and the necessary services will be provided to support the agreed programmes and technical support will be provided to ensure capacity building within the framework of enhancing job opportunities and eliminating unemployment in Libya.

Supernovae will be committed to providing the necessary supplies and equipment to implement the training and qualification programmes mentioned within the terms of the agreement.

According to the MoU, support and training will be provided to 100 labour inspectors to activate the oversight role of the Libyan Ministry of Labour and help them settle the conditions of expatriate workers in accordance with Libyan law.

Moreover, 150 Libyan youth will be trained in entrepreneurship and vocational training, with 15 trainers trained for psychological support and 10 trainers trained as labour inspectors. The provisions of the agreement will be implemented in the coming days according to a precise work schedule prepared with the Supernovae.
