Libya’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Najla Al-Mangoush, signed a Memorandum of Understanding Monday, with the United States Institute of Peace (USIP). The Libyan Foreign Ministry described the USIP as ‘‘an independent American institution authorized by the US Congress based in Washington.’’

The memorandum of understanding signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with the Director of North Africa Programs and the Regional Axis, Eli Abu Aoun at the ministry’s headquarters in the capital, Tripoli, stipulated the implementation of the institute’s programmes that support conflict resolution and building peace and stability in Libya, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The memorandum includes the governing principles between the Foreign Ministry and the USIP and supports transparency and interest in achieving the most positive impact for the Libyan people through joint initiatives between the two parties, the ministry reported.
