Libyan market accounts for more than 78 percent of the total Tunisian crop exports

London, 30 September 2021:

The value of Tunisian exports of crop increased by 44 percent, until September 28, 2021, reaching a value of 83.1 million dinars, compared to the same period in 2020.

The quantities of Tunisian exported crops also increased by 70 percent, as of September 28, 2021, to exceed 34,000 tons, according to data by the (Tunisian) Joint Professional Association for Produce (re-published by the SCLTB Supreme Council of Libyan Tunisian Businessmen) published on Wednesday.

The Libyan market accounts for more than 78 percent of the total Tunisian exports of fruits, especially melons (about 9,000 tons), peaches (7,312 tons), apricots (3,060 tons) and plums (2,382 tons).

The Italian market ranks second in terms of receiving Tunisian fruit exports, mainly represented by watermelons (3,290 tons). While a small part of these exports is directed to the European Union, represented by peaches (378 tons) and strawberries (293 tons).

It is noteworthy that Tunisian fruit exports to Libya have more than doubled during the first nine months of 2021, to pass from 11.8 thousand tons at the end of September 2020, to about 27 thousand tons in 2021. The value of these exports also improved by 81 percent to exceed 45.2 million Tunisian dinars, the report said.
