London, 21 June 2021:

The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) reported yesterday that Turkish company, ENKA, started implementation work yesterday of the Misrata gas station project, with a total capacity of 650 megawatts,

The site was officially handed over after the signing procedures for receiving the site between GECOL and the project executing contractor (a consortium of Germany’s Siemens and ENKA) were conducted – in the presence of the assigned security entity providing protection for the project.

GECOL reported that the project, the first units of which will enter into operation before the summer peak of 2022, is considered one of the important projects that it is relying on to cover its generation deficit and reduce power cuts.
