The Presidency Council announced the appointment (Decree 17/2021) yesterday of a new head of Libyan Intelligence. He is to be Hussein Mohamed Khalifa Al-Ayeb. He takes over from Emad Trabelsi.
He is a career man having been in the Qaddafi regime for a few decades. He hails from Siyan in the foot of Western/Nefusa mountains. He broke with Qaddafi early in 2011 and was allied to Hafter earlier on then fell out with him. He still has good contacts in the military in the east.
