Libya begins administering anti-Coronavirus vaccine to general public

London, 17 April 2021:

Libya’s national vaccination campaign against the Coronavirus was launched within the Tripoli municipality and other health centres across its municipalities this morning.

Libya’s National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported today that 430 health facilities have been equipped throughout the country with all the health and media requirements for the campaign.

At a launch ceremony held at the Health and Care Centre in the Municipality of Tripoli, NCDC head Badr Al-Din Al-Najjar stressed the importance of taking the vaccination to protect citizens and society from this pandemic.

 Vaccination rollout

The vaccination rollout will be as follows:

1-Astrazeneca vaccine for: All those above 70 years old registered on the online system.

2-Sputnik V vaccine for: a/Frontline healthcare personnel. b/ 50-60 year olds registered on the online system.

Meanwhile, the latest NCDC figures report that Libya has had a total of 171,131 cases, with 156,344 recoveries, 11,905 active cases and 2,882 deaths from Coronavirus.
