London, 24 March 2021:
Libya will need US$ 450 billion for its reconstruction effort over a five-year period in addition to three million foreign workers – Abdelmajid Kosher, president of the Libyan Contractors’ Union and Vice President of the Union of Arab Contractors, said. [restrict paid=”true”]
Speaking to the Egyptian Masrawi news outlet on Monday, Kosher said that the reconstruction phase in Libya needs Egyptian workers recognized for their competence and experience in the Libyan arena.
Investment opportunities in Libya are numerous, he said, including infrastructure, railways, bridges, roads, housing, sanitation and oil.
Kosher called on Egyptian contracting companies to contribute to the reconstruction of Libya, stressing the importance of Egypt’s role in providing the necessary manpower. [/restrict]
He predicted that Egyptian contracting companies will have the lion’s share of Libya’s reconstruction projects and win the competition, with offers that outperform international companies seeking to exploit the opportunity, for example, Chinese and Turkish companies.
He claimed that Libya prefers Egyptian companies as they have experience in the Libyan scene, having worked there for a long time since the Qaddafi era.
Kosher suggested that there should be a partnership between Egyptian and Libyan companies in the implementation of contracting projects, so that Libyan national companies would take into account the interests of Egyptian companies.
