London, 2 February 2021:
The Tripoli Ministry of Labour and Rehabilitation signed an electronic link agreement with the Civil Registry Authority on Sunday.
The Labour Ministry reported that the technical linkage is part of its implementation strategy in providing the best services to citizens.
The agreement aims at combating corruption, verifying national figures, accelerating financial releases, and the flow and matching of information.
The Ministry said it considered it a qualitative leap that contributes to organizing the database of workers in the public administrative sector.
It will be noted that in theory and by law, no Libyan working for the state sector should be able to receive their salary without holding a valid National ID Number. Nevertheless, there are many cases of Libyans who receive two or more state salaries.
Since the 2011 revolution the government has, armed with the National ID Number, worked at identifying these and stopping them receiving more than one salary. There have been cases of deceased people who have continued to receive payments years after their death.
