At a meeting held with the Deputy head of the Presidency Council, Ahmed Maetig at the Prime Minister’s Office last Friday, the leaders of Libya’s ‘‘2020 Initiative’’ made a comprehensive presentation to Maetig of the initiative’s objectives and vision.
The 2020 Initiative aims to increase the use of technology across all walks of life in Libyan society. The organizers, the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Hilal Al-Tabuli, the Chairman of the General Information Authority, Abdulraouf al-Bibaas, and the president of the Libyan Internet Society Omar, Abdel Nabi, emphasized that the initiative was aimed at stimulating the use of technology and reducing the digital divide of age groups and to increasing Arab digital content on the international information network.
They also hoped that the initiative would help diversify the Libyan economy and help researchers in different areas in getting information to accomplish their work, as well as creating an e-learning system and creating internet exchange points to save data traffic and contribute to the development of all Libyan legislation in multiple languages in one location.
