Tripoli, 14 August 2017:

Libyan photographers have managed to include themselves, at the last minute, in the 2nd World of Photographers 2017 online presentation.

The presentation, organised by the Saudi/US-based World of Photography Group and supported by the Luxembourg-based Fédération Internationale de l’Art Photographique (FIAP) and the Photographic Society of America, takes what it considers to be the best of the photos submitted via its branches worldwide and then presents them for consideration in upcoming international photographic competitions.

“FIAP had called on its coordinators in different countries around the world to nominate their best pictures, but Libya was not included because is not a member of it,” Libyan photographer Taha Krewi told the Libya Herald.

“When they were about to announce those it had selected, I got in touch through Facebook, expressing my sadness that Libya would not participate in such an international photography event.

“They then contacted me and said it was possible for Libyan photographers to participate and would I be the country coordinator for them. They asked me to collect and nominate photos from the local photographers in less than 48 hours because there was not much time left before the results were to be announced,” he explained.

“I have tried to my best to contact a number of photographers but because the time was very short, my options were limited,” he explained.

The photographers nominees of Libya are:

  • Taha Krewi (international coordinator)
  • Abdulfatah Amr
  • Leila Mogherabi
  • Fatima El-Gargani
  • Basher Shglila
  • Radwan Zenati
  • Ahmed Barudi
