A senior adviser to the mayor of Istanbul has been in Tripoli on what the Turkish embassy described as a technical visit.
Ismail Turunc is a close adviser of Kadir Topbaş, the mayor of Turkey’s second city. Tripoli mayor Abdulrauf Beitelmal went the Istanbul this February. Turunc’s visit is one of the results of that trip.
Today Beitelmal sook him on a tour of historic sitse in the capital and they talked about the restoration and maintenance of such treasures.
Their discussions also covered technical assistance and the running of city services. Tripoli had a peacetime population of around 1.1 million as against Istanbul’s rising current 14.5 million.
Both men agreed to boost links and talked of Turkey’s ability to provide vocational training.
