Benghazi, 10 June 2017:
As part of the increased use of Benghazi’s Benin Airport, it has been announced that Umrah flights taking pilgrims to Jeddah will begin tomorrow.
Initially, there will be three – one each tomorrow at 11pm, another on Monday and the third on Thursday.
They are the first official civil flights from Benina in more than three years although it is now being used for air ambulance, cargo and VIP flights. Two days ago it was announced that flights to oil fields would resume after Eid.
So far there has been no announcement as to when normal commercial flights will resume from Benina. According to airport officials, the main reason for the continued delay is that baggage-scanning machines still have not arrived.
