Tripoli, 3 Febuary 2017:
The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) in Tripoli has announced that Essam El-Oul is no longer its official spokesman. It has given no reason, however, for his removal.
For his part, Oul has said on his Facebook page that he had not been sacked but quit, having decided after six years in the job that it was time to move on.
Oul was twice reported kidnapped during his time at the CBL, once in March 2014 and again in June 2015, although the details of each abduction were never fully revealed.
So far, the CBL has not announced a new spokesperson.
