Workshop for Libyan entrepreneurs

Tripoli, 31 July 2016:

SPARK, a Dutch NGO, held its first workshop for 20 Libyan entrepreneurs in Tripoli last week to address the challenges and obstacles faced by SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in Libya. Operating in different sectors, the entrepreneurs shared experiences and evaluated the type of support needed to encourage private sector development in Libya generally and their businesses in particular.

The workshop is one of a series aimed at identifying the priority needs of businesses in Libya for targeted assistance.

They are being operated in partnership with the Libyan Enterprise fund and ENALA, a local Libyan organisation founded in 2012 which works on social and economic empowerment of young people.

According to SPARK, its aim is to develop higher education and entrepreneurship so as to empower young, motivated people to lead their conflict-affected societies into prosperity. It has been working in Libya since 2012 and was the first international organisation to set up an entrepreneurship centre in Benghazi.
