Tripoli, 29 March 2016:
The president of the House of Representatives (HoR), Ageela Saleh, has again called on members . . .[restrict]to turn up and take the necessary political decisions to enable Libya to move forward.
The parliament had been unable to hold formal meetings and vote on issues in recent weeks. Without enough members turning up, it has been consistently inquorate.
Members had to be “responsible” and turn up and vote on crucial issues, the HoR president said in his latest declaration issued yesterday.
It has been suggested that in reality he has blocked an HoR vote in favour of the national unity government by preventing it meeting. This, however, is rejected by Tobruk-based analysts.
“He is not being devious,” one told the Libya Herald. “He is weak but he genuinely wants a solution. He wants members to turn up and vote on the government”.
