Tripoli, 22 January 2016.
The Libyan police union has rejected the Government of National Accord’s interior minister-designate Aref Saleh Al-Khojja.
Though . . .[restrict]the union, in a statement on its social media page, did not spell out the reasons for refusing to accept Khojja, the preamble made it clear that it did not believe he would be an unbiased minister.
The union said that it accepted the GNA and was determined to behave transparently and impartially towards Libya citizens. Khojja is viewed as an Islamist and said to be close to Tripoli militia leaders Khaled Al-Sharif and Omar Khadrawi.
The statement was signed by Major Wail Ahmed Dibik, the Libyan Police Union’s general coordinator. [/restrict]
