The head of security at the foreign ministry, Jamal Musa, is said to have been shot . . .[restrict]dead by Islamic State (IS) gunmen at one of their checkpoints near Nufliya, east of Sirte. His brother was also killed in the incident and his brother’s wife seriously wounded.
The killings took place yesterday when Musa and his brother were travelling back to Beida from their father’s funeral at Brak Al-Shatti. It is reported that they tried to speed through the IS checkpoint but were caught in a hail of gunfire.
The Deputy foreign minister, Hassan Saghir, has sent the government’s condolences to the family. [/restrict]
