Benghazi, 11 October 2015:

To the sound of distant gunfire and despite power cuts, the International Peace Games got under . . .[restrict]way in Benghazi today with competitions that included mountain biking, tennis and running.

The three-day event may call itself “international” but the organisers admit that they have been unable to attract any overseas competitors this year.

The first race was a peace marathon. There are male and female competitions and on Tuesday the Games will run events for disabled athletes. [/restrict]
