Tunis, 3 September 2015:
In our report yesterday on the arrest off Crete of the Bolivian-registered freighter Haddad . . .[restrict]1, suspected of smuggling arms to Libya, we quoted Turkey’s Anadolu news agency as saying that 4,900 “ungrooved hunting rifles” were destined for Libya.
It has since been pointed out by the Turkish embassy in Tunis that Anadolu’s English-language story differs from the version on its Turkish-language news page. This says the weapons were due for delivery to Lebanon (“Lübnan”). This news page also says that the freighter was heading for Misrata with a consignment of cement mixers. [/restrict]
