Benghazi, 30 April 2015:

Both sides in the fighting in Benghazi have been taking a break today after intensive clashes . . .[restrict]earlier this week. There has been almost no firing during the day.

The army says that following an advance in the south of the city at the beginning of the week, it now controls Garyounis, Gwarsha and Venezia Street as well as Buhdeima and parts of Leithi. However, the extent of LNA “control” in unclear. Snipers from the Benghazi Revolutionaries Shoura Council (BRSC) have been active in various areas, preventing LNA forces from moving freely.

As part of the advance, the LNA now controls the base of 17 February Brigade, part of BRSC, off Venezia Street. Following its capture, LNA bomb disposal experts were brought in to deal with a number of missiles at the camp.
