Tripoli, 21 February 2015:
Six infants, one just 21 days old, are reported to have died in Zawia Teaching . . .[restrict]Hospital’s neo-natal department in the past two days. The cause of death is unknown. A virus is suspected but there are counter suggestions of contaminated medicines possibly having been administered.
The medications together with blood and body substance samples have been sent to the Central Laboratory in Tripoli. However, it is not fully operational because of shortages of materials and staff.
This is said to the second time that the hospital in Zawia has been hit by a deadly mystery illness. [/restrict]
