Dr Najmadeen Al-Rhais had been returning to his vehicle parked behind the Al-Amgoudi mosque in Shara Abdul. He discovered the device containing some 800 grammes of TNT.

The slain policeman however has been named as Adel Salem Al-Gheriyani from the Al Hani area.  Neighbours said that the policeman had been attacked in his home by men from the Nawasi Brigade because he was thought to favour the Libyan National Army.  He was reportedly shot more than once . However, his attackers stopped anyone from taking him to hospital, until it seemed they were sure that he was dead.
