Tripoli, 30 October 2014:
Egypt stands with the will of the Libyan people, declared Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi . . .[restrict]in an interview with Saudi daily Okaz published Tuesday.
When asked about Egypt’s stance on the current events in Libya, Sisi stressed that his nation supported the people of Libya, the elected government and the national army. Egypt stood ready to support Libya and her people according at the request of the Libyans.
How Egypt would support Libya was not stated, nor how such a request might be made. Sisi did add, however, that Egypt did not interfere in the affairs of other countries in any way. On the other hand, he acknowledged that what happened in Libya could harm Egypt, and this was something Egypt had to prevent.
“We are vigilant about what is happening both inside and outside Libya,” he said.
Sisi expressed his hope that Libya could pull out of this situation and rebuild its institutional foundations to become a modern state. “Libyans deserve it and are able to achieve it,” he said.
