Benghazi, 1 October 2014:
Three civilians and a member of the security services were killed in Benghazi yesterday . . .[restrict]as assassinations and other violence continued in the city, seemingly with impunity.
Former military officer Mohamed Al-Zlaowah was killed in Shebna. He was shot dead while driving with a friend who was also hit and is said to be in critical condition.
Zlaowah was taken to Benghazi Medical Centre (BMC) where he was pronounced dead on arrival, medical sources explained.
Jamal Ben Hariz was also killed and his body taken BMC. He was shot dead in his car while driving on the airport road. The identities of his assailants are unknown.
An 85-year-old widow, Hawa Bogeda Saidi, was killed in her own home, apparently by burglars, who stole jewellery and other valuable items, a family member told the Libya Herald. In a particularly gruesome attack, Saidi had her throat cut and had one of her hands removed, presumably because a ring could not be removed as the scene of the crime..
Egyptian media also report that an Egyptian worker, named as Ahmed Muftah Al-Hashemi, was killed in crossfire between gunmen in the city.
