Tripoli, 13 October 2014:

Alassema TV presenter Maad Al-Tleeb has been released unharmed less than three days after being seized by an armed group in Tripoli.

Al-Tleeb’s aunt, Zeinab Al-Zaidi, a member of the Constitutional Drafting Assembly, posted news of his release on her social networking page in the early hours of Monday morning.

“Maad is in the embrace of his mother and family. Thank you to everyone who helped,” her post read.

No details have been released on what prompted his release.

Based in the capital, Alaseema (which means Capital in Arabic) has taken a consistently pro-army, pro-police, pro-HoR and anti-Ansar Al-Sharia and anti-Muslim Brotherhood stand.  It also has been subject to regular attacks –  it is thought as a result.

Al-Tleeb himself has been a vocal supporter of the army and the police.
