Tripoli, 5 August 2014:

In the early hours of this morning Ageela Issa was elected as the new president of . . .[restrict]the House of Representatives by 77 votes over his opponent Abubaker Baera who obtained 74 votes. A total of 158 members participated in the vote.

FULL NAME: Ageela Saleh Issa Egweder Al-Ghaiti Al-Abaidy

DOB: 1944

PLACE OF BIRTH: Gubba, eastern Libya

EDUCATION: License in law

OCCUPATION: retired legal counsellor

EXPERIENCE: 10 years in District General’s department in the eastern region of Libya

– 5 years as the District Attorney for the Green Mountain eastern region

– Considered one of the most experienced and oldest District Attorneys in Libya.

– Unsubstantiated claims on Facebook being circulated by his opponents and opponents of the whole GNC-House of Representative handover process in Tobruk of having had paid homage to Qaddafi in a public gathering.

However, he has passed the screening process of the Political Isolation Law Committee and was therefore able to take up his House of Representative seat in Tobruk yesterday.
