Tripoli, 3 July 2014:
The acting Libyan ambassador to Tanzania, Ismail Nwairat, has committed suicide, according to the embassy . . .[restrict]in Dar es Salam. Nwairat shot himself on Tuesday afternoon, an embassy statement published yesterday said.
According to it, he locked himself in his office and then shot himself in the chest. On hearing the shot staff broke into the office to find Nwairat lying in a pool of blood.
He was rushed to hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.
An investigation has been launched by the police in Dar es Salaam.
The diplomat’s body is to be flown back to Libya. [/restrict]
