Tripoli, 22 March 2014:
A man has been killed after a land-mine left over from the revolution exploded in the forest area . . .[restrict]east of Zintan.
The man has been named as Suleiman Al-Meghod, according to Libyan news agency LANA.
The land-mine dated back to the 17 February Revolution. Qaddafi troops planted mines in the area, which saw fierce fighting between revolutionary fighters and the old regime.
There is ongoing work to clear the country of explosive remnants of war. Last week, Japan pledged $5.2 million to an UNSMIL project to step up operations to clear munitions and unexploded ordinance. [/restrict]
