Benghazi, 20 January 2014:
A member of the Benghazi Police Directorate was targeted yesterday, but escaped unhurt after noticing an . . .[restrict]explosive device beneath his car.
The security official saw the suspicious-looking device when leaving his home in the Laith district of Benghazi. He immediately informed the relevant authorities who sent a bomb disposal unit to the scene.
They were unable to defuse the explosives, which was a package attached to a detonator then linked to a mobile phone. The device exploded while the team were there, but appeared to be faulty and no-one was injured in the blast. [/restrict]
