Tripoli, 18 December 2013:
The Central Bank of Libya . . .[restrict]has issued a reminder to the public that the old blue LD20 notes will cease to be valid as of Monday 30 December.
The notes, which show Muammar Al-Qaddafi surrounded by a group of African leaders at the 1999 Sirte summit which which set up the African Union, have to be handed into the Central Bank or its branches by that date.
Last May, the bank had announced that the notes would be invalid as of 31 July. The deadline was then extended.
The new organge LD 20 note came into circulation in April. [/restrict]
