Tripoli, 11 December 2013:
Greek police have released 14 Libyans arrested on Monday at the Libyan embassy in Athens. Another 17 were . . .[restrict]reported as still detained.
According to Nasser Hudidi, head of the Office of the Wounded at the embassy, there had been a protest inside the embassy with demonstrators demanding financial payments they have not received for more than three months. He added that the embassy had contacted the authorities in Tripoli which had promised payment soon.
Protests outside the embassy have been going on for weeks, with increasing numbers of demonstrators blocking the entrance.
Many of the protesters were arrested on leaving the embassy buildings. Hudidi stated that the Embassy had sent a lawyer on Tuesday evening to follow up the circumstances of those who were still detained. [/restrict]
