Sirte Airport is set to become Libya’s seventh international airport next month with the start of . . .[restrict]flights to Tunis and Sfax.
Tunisair has announced that it will start a weekly light between Tunis and Sirte on 6 January. According to Sirte Local Council media spokesman, Mohammed Amyl, a Libyan airline will also start operating two weekly flights to Sfax the same day.
He did not specify which airline. He also added that plans were in the pipeline for flights to Istanbul.
Facilities at the airport have been recently upgraded in anticipation of it going international.
Currently, Libya’s international airports are Tripoli, Benghazi, Misrata, Sebha, Labraq and Tobruk. International flights are also expected to operate out of Kufra next year. [/restrict]
