Reports of fighting in Marj early this morning between Islamist miltants and police were untrue, the . . .[restrict]town’s Congress member has told the Libya Herald./
“It is just a rumour” Congressman Izzeddin Al-Awami told the Libya Herald. “There has been no fighting in Marj.”
Any such conflicts in Libya’s eastern towns and cities, he said, were extremely “unlikely because of the tribal bonding” he added.
It had been reported on social media sites today that a convoy of 15 vehicles bearing ?A-lQaeda flags had been in a shootout with a police force in Marj at around 3am this morning.
