Tripoli 21 March 2103:
A monthly family allowance payment of LD 100 for every child under 18 years of age has been . . .[restrict]approved by the General National Congress.
Under Resolution No. 6 of 2013, the allowance, which is exempt from any deductions, will be backdated to 1 January 2013.
The money will be paid direct to the father. In the event of separation or divorce, the allowance will be paid to the parent who has custody of the child, or to the guardian.
Under article four of the resolution, every unmarried daughter over 18 years of age will continue to receive the allowance provided she is not is receipt of a salary, benefit allowance or any other financial help from an individual or entity.
This allowance will also be paid to the Libyan wife or step mother of children under the age of 18 born to a non-Libyan father. [/restrict]
