Tripoli, 19 November:
Ali Zeidan’s government held its first cabinet meeting on Sunday, following the handover ceremony at the Prime Minister’s office . . .[restrict]earlier in the day.
Zeidan said that the main priorities of his government were security, defence, health, public services, the economy, and starting the process of national reconciliation.
He also announced the formation of specialist committee to ensure that the delivery and receipt of minutes between the previous and the new government was properly carried out, in particular with regards to financial matters.
The body, which will be chaired by the chief auditor and include various specialists in the fields of finance and law, will brief the National Congress on its work in due course.
The prime minister also said that the government would consider a cabinet reshuffle following the outcome of investigations by the Integrity Commission and whether to move existing ministers or nominate new ones, but warned this may take some weeks. [/restrict]
