Benghazi, 24 October:
Egypt’s consulate in Benghazi was again the scene of violent protests today, Wednesday, by Libyans angry at new Egyptian . . .[restrict]visa regulations. Twenty men are reported to have attacked security guards, stolen a gun which they fired into the air and damaged surveillance cameras.
The protestors are said to be agents who apply for visas for third parties. Under new regulations, applicants must now apply for their own visas.
A Libyan journalist who tried to photograph the demonstrators was reportedly assaulted. Although present, the police but did not interfere.
On Sunday and on 10 October, there were similar attacks. [/restrict]
