Tripoli, 9 August:
The chief of staff of Sudan’s armed forces, Ismat Abdel-Rahman, arrived with accompanying personnel at Tripoli International . . .[restrict]Airport this morning.
The delegation was greeted by Libya’s chief of staff Major-General Yousef Mangoush and Abdel Salam al-Hassi, chief of operations for the defence ministry, as well as other members of the Libyan military.
Mangoush met with Abdel-Rahman in Khartoum earlier this year, to discuss establishing a joint border force and other border-protection measures. He spoke of “mutual trust” between the two countries. The exact purpose of this visit is not yet known.A welcome reception was held for the delegation by the Ambassador at the Sudanese Embassy in Libya. [/restrict]
