Tripoli, April 13:

Two retired brigadiers-general, Mohammed Shafiq Abu-Haibah and Safwat Al-Zayat, have been awarded honorary doctorates by Misrata University in recognition . . .[restrict]of the media role they played during the Libyan revolution.

The doctorates were also presented for their efforts in drawing up operational field plans which are said to have contributed to winning many of the battles against Qaddafi forces.

Abu-Haibah is reported as saying that supporting the revolution came naturally but that a number the presentations on Al-Jazeera and Arabiya TV channels were not mere analyses of the military situation last year. They also contained coded messages for the fighters on the ground.
