Benghazi, 5 July 2014:
An Airforce sergeant was shot and killed yesterday in Benghazi’s Gwarsha district . . .[restrict]as he left Asr (afternoon) prayers at a local mosque.
A military source identified him as Abdussalam Ali Al-Shahubi adding that he worked at Benina Airbase.
A spokesman for Hawari hospital where his body was taken following the attack said he had been shot several times and that he was pronounced dead on arrival. His body was then taken to Benghazi Medical Centre where a full postmortem was due to be performed.
The Ministry of Interior meanwhile yesterday issued a statement saying that 17 people had been assassinated in Benghazi since the beginning of Ramadan. This figure did not include the death of Shahubi or Hassan Buzgaya who was killed today in a bomb attack.
