UNDP Libya reported today that Libya is moving closer to submitting the country’s first ‘‘Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC)’’ under the Paris Agreement, ahead of the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) this upcoming November.
The setting of low-carbon targets came at a review event held in Tripoli today, co-organised by UNDP Libya with the Ministry of Environment, the National Climate Change Committee, and the European Union, national sectors ranging from oil and gas to electricity and transport, came together to set clear mitigation targets for a low-carbon future.
UNDP Libya said this national effort is essential, and that it is proud to support this important milestone with the generous support of the European Union. It said it will continue to provide technical expertise, facilitate collaboration, and foster global partnerships to ensure that the NDCs transition from planning to action and from commitment to implementation.
