Kufra, 22 November 2014:
More than a hundred illegal migrants who had spent five days drifting helplessly off the Libyan coast . . .[restrict]were rescued yesterday by local coastguards.
“They were some ten miles off Garabulli when we rescued them” Libyan Navy spokesperson, Ayoub Qasem, told the Libya Herald.
The engine on their vessel appear to have failed. Qasem said that the 105 passengers aboard all came from sub-Saharan countries. They had been handed over to the immigration department for deportation.
